The municipality of Santa Cruz de Tenerife until December 31 will receive the arrival of 133,006 tourists from cruise ships, which will mean a potential income of 6,889,000 million eurosaccording to municipal estimates.

The mayor of the capital, José Manuel Bermúdez, has indicated in a statement that these data are indicative of the growing tourist attraction of the capital, for which reason he has urged its economic sectors “especially commerce and restaurants, to make the most of this chance”.

“In the remainder of the year, the arrival of 76 cruise ships is expected, which in comparative terms in these months of November and December means that we are at figures similar to 2019 before the coronavirus crisis, which has profoundly affected this sector”, Bermúdez detailed.

Likewise, in the first four months of 2023, the arrival of 158 cruise ships is expected, with a capacity of 394,044 passengers, estimating that 275,831 tourists will visit the city, with direct spending on services, commerce or restaurants of 14,288,045 euros.

For his part, the CEO of the Development Society, Alfonso Cabello, regarding the data forecast for next year has announced that “there are 20 specific days where three or more cruise ships will be concentrated in the city on each of those days, and up to 36 where the arrival of 5,000 people aboard cruise ships is expected.

To cope with this arrival, the town has launched a daily free tourist route, called the “Historical Route through Santa Cruz de Tenerife”, which aims to respond to cruise passengers who want to see the city in a few hours.

Along with this, the tourist information point for cruise ships and the tourist information office in the Plaza de España will be operational every day that this type of vessel docks.

In data from the consistory, the total number of people served in these information resources until November 3 has been 64,852.
