SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo de La Gomera has proceeded to open the period to apply for scholarships for the study of students who are trained outside the island in university modalities, Baccalaureate and Vocational Training, in addition to those participating in mobility programs, such as Erasmus.

The president of the Cabildo, Casimiro Curbelo, has indicated that on this occasion the initial item exceeds one million euros with the forecast of serving a thousand students in the different modalities that are covered.

“It is one of the broadest commitments made by the Institution to cooperate with young people and their families, since the amounts they will receive are complementary to scholarships from other administrations,” said Curbelo, who insisted on strengthening these measures in a context of increased expenses due to the inflationary crisis, “something that has a direct impact on the economies of students”.

Thus, Curbelo specified that, like last year, applicants will have an additional allowance of 300 euros equivalent to the monthly cost of the transport voucher. In such a way, that not only those who are trained in Tenerife and Gran Canaria can benefit from the measure, but also those who are trained in other parts of the country or the European Union.

Regarding the modalities of study, students up to 30 years of age who are trained in university centers outside the Canary Islands, in person, will receive 1,400 euros, in addition to 300 euros for transport, which makes a total of 1,700 euros. In the case of face-to-face university studies on the islands, the amount will be 1,200 euros, which added to the transport aid, reaches 1,500 euros.

The face-to-face studies of Baccalaureate and Vocational Training that are taken outside of La Gomera because they are not taught on the island have a consignment of 700 euros per student, in addition to transport aid, which represents 1,000 euros. Meanwhile, those who do it in La Gomera and are not covered by the transfer service to the school residence, will have 400 euros. Finally, non-face-to-face university studies, Baccalaureate or Vocational Training, have a consignment of 500 euros.

To be eligible for the scholarships it is necessary to reside in La Gomera; complete enrollment during the first course or do so in 50% of the subjects in the second and subsequent courses. In addition, it will be mandatory to have passed 50% of the subjects or credits enrolled in the previous academic year.

Applications for these types of scholarships can be formalized until December 21, through the Electronic Office.

ERASMUS SCHOLARSHIPS

Gomeran students integrated into Erasmus, Sicue or global mobility programs may apply, until December 14, for scholarships for this purpose, through the procedure available at the Electronic Office.

In the case of Erasmus and global mobility, the Cabildo grants a monthly allowance of 200 euros, up to a maximum of 1,800 euros, which varies according to the duration of the program chosen by each student. For students participating in the Sicue program, the monthly deposit is 150 euros per month, up to a maximum of 1,350 euros.

As explained by the Minister of Education, Rosa Elena García, it is the fourth year that this line of specific aid for young people who decide to study at universities outside of Spain has been in force and, as with the rest of the scholarships, this modality is also compatible with those granted by other administrations.
