DinoSol Foundation Y Chocolates Trapa yesterday held a day of reforestation on the coast of the municipality of arafo, just very close to where the Hiperdino logistics warehouses are located. The first planting was made with tarajales, very suitable to resist the salinity of the environment, although it is expected that even Viborina triste will be planted, according to what the environmental technician of the Arafo City Council, Juan Cardona, told this newspaper, as well as a Canary Island palm (Phoenix canariensis ), wild olive (Olea Cerasiformis), cardón (E. canariensis) and tabaiba (Euphorbia balsamera), in other actions to be carried out in the near future to regenerate the Valley’s coastline from the Malpaís de Güímar mountain to the Hornilla ravine that gives to the beach of Lima.

The meeting was attended by the director of the DinoSol Foundation, Virginia Ávila; the technical director of HiperDino, Rubén Molowny; the director of Communication and Public Relations of Chocolates Trapa, Ángel Amador, and the mayor of Arafo, Juan Ramón Martín, who commented that this action is “one more in our commitment to regenerate the municipality and the Polígono, as we are already doing with the sanitation”.

HiperDino workers and their families also wanted to join this initiative, as well as residents of the town, who began planting 1,000 native specimens such as the tarajal (tamarix canariensis), which when they reach adulthood, will be capable of absorbing CO2 and will contribute to purify the surrounding air.

Planting the future with you, a project launched by Chocolates Trapa, aims to combat the climate crisis by cultivating specimens in treeless areas where soil conditions make it difficult for the natural regeneration of the forest. Next week both entities will carry out an action of similar characteristics, this time in the municipality of Gáldar.

DinoSol Foundation was born in March 2017 with the aim of promoting individual, collective and family well-being, and improving the quality of life and professional training of all workers and collaborators that are part of HiperDino.

Likewise, it supports the social and cultural development of Canarian society and actively participates in solidarity actions.

Since its creation, it has made 264 collaborations with associations, foundations and non-profit entities in the Canary Islands, and has helped 756 people who work in the HiperDino chain.

Its volunteering is made up of more than 350 people, who have participated in 69 solidarity activities and 17 volunteer activities.
