Everyone knows that the DISA Foundation works in all its areas of action with the premise of education. For this reason, since its inception in 2011, it understands sport as something more than physical activity, as a tool that enhances personal and social values such as camaraderie, trust or equality.
With this objective, he has worked in recent months on the creation and start-up of a new project: ‘The power of the stands’. It is an initiative that aims to remind athletes, but mainly the fans, what really matters: respect and the importance of collaborative work, convinced that it is what transforms a group of people into a true team.
With the intention of continuing to grow, this first edition will take place in Gran Canaria and Tenerife and is intended for federations and clubs of any sport modality that carry out their work with minors between the ages of 5 and 13, being really the fathers, mothers or adults responsible for their education and sports activities who participate in said proposal.
With a dynamic and participative methodology based on the game, ‘The power of the stands’ offers its participants tools that help them discover their own resources for the peaceful resolution of negative situations that may occur in the sports environment, mainly in the stands, placing respect for children at the center.
The activity, taught by social and sports professionals, members of El Gato Animaciones, is completely free for all interested clubs and will last a total of 90 minutes. The team will travel to the club’s facilities upon request to make the families and other accompanying persons put themselves in the place of all the people who surround the sporting activity (coaches, referees or the minors themselves), forcing situations of conflict, currently normalized, in order to promote empathy and respectful relationships, for the benefit of all the agents involved.
In addition, at the end, a time for reflection is reserved, where the attendees will share impressions and conclusions of everything learned during the day, putting on the table the improvements that they themselves can carry out in the different matches, exhibitions or competitions. to which they attend as a public.
