Arriaga announces the increase in the annual transport budget by 45 million

The vice president of the Cabildo and Minister of Mobility, Enrique Arriaga, announces on his social networks that the Insular Government Council approved, within the budget project for 2023, more than 105 million euros for transport subsidies. This amount is 45 more than last year, when there were 60.

The global public transport policy, adds Arriaga, is the one that experiences the greatest increase, with an increase of 68% compared to 2022. A figure also provided by the Minister of citizens It is that, with respect to 2019, the increase in the economic injection in this section is 67 million euros, rising to the aforementioned amount from 38 three years ago.

In 2020 the investment was 49 million, to go to 60 in 2021 and stay at this last figure last year. The exact amount contemplated in the draft of the accounts for the next financial year is 105,354,340 euros.

At least an amount of this global item must be used to cover the costs of free public transport, buses and trams, as of January 1, 2023.

The insular area director, José Alberto León, represented the Cabildo de Tenerife at the meeting with the Regional Transport Councilor, Sebastián Franquis, to bring a common position to the Ministry. Basically to request a subsidy line with an adequate financial record that allows the purchase of buses and trams.

It should be remembered that Titsa must return more than 200 vehicles in a few months on a mandatory basis, due to the rental system “inherited” from the previous mandate.
