SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 17 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife has allocated a total of 276,436 euros to collaborate with the Red Cross in assisting Ukrainian families affected by the war, of which 156,436 euros are for the care of Ukrainian children and their relatives residing in the island and 120,000 euros to send basic necessities to Ukraine, which is being carried out this year.

The CEO of Citizen Participation and Diversity, Nauzet Gugliotta, indicated that the Cabildo will finance the execution of the Red Cross Attention to Families of Ukraine project, which will begin in December and will last for a year, to assist minors who have been registered and schooled in the municipalities of Puerto de la Cruz, La Orotava and Los Realejos, as well as their families.

“A total of 80 families will benefit from this action, which aims to reduce the havoc that the current war situation can cause in the emotional health of girls and boys in the face of the uncertainty of losing not only their usual routines and lifestyles, but also even the lives of their relatives,” said the CEO.

He added that the needs of minors will be addressed emotionally, through psychological support sessions, Spanish workshops, digital skills and academic reinforcement will also be given, as well as leisure activities to promote their integration into community life. On the other hand, there will be interventions with their families, with orientation and accompaniment services, training in basic personal skills and delivery of aid, among other services.

In the case of Tenerife, since the beginning of this armed conflict, the Red Cross has received shelters in international emergency resources for 944 Ukrainian people, of whom 259 remain on the island (174 adults and 84 minors).

For her part, the CEO of Foreign Action, Liskel Álvarez, clarified that the aid of 120,000 euros will be for the shipment of food and essential products to Ukraine, to cover the basic needs of the population that is the victim of this war.

“It will be sent through the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, in collaboration with the Ukrainian Red Cross, as a contribution to the project that the Red Cross is carrying out this year,” explained Álvarez, who valued the work of the humanitarian organizations, entities and agencies with which the Cabildo has been collaborating to promote actions of solidarity, development cooperation and social welfare for groups and people in vulnerable situations, with special attention to girls and boys, young people and women.
