The Town Hall of La Orotava has managed to bring together 152 godfathers and godmothers who will be in charge of fulfilling the illusions of minors from families with fewer resources in the next kings night. Through the councils of social welfare Y Citizen participationdirected by the nationalist councilors Belén González and Delia Escobarthe Town Hall repeats a solidarity initiative that has been a success in recent years and that in 2022, participation increases by almost 17%. The number of employees goes from 130 in 2021 to 152 in 2022.
Sponsor an Illusion relies on the solidarity of the residents and companies of the Villa, but in this edition people from other towns have also joined “so that no boy or girl in the municipality loses their illusion and is left without receiving the magic of the three wise men”.
Orotavans individually, families, companies or groups of the municipality have joined this initiative to have “a gesture of solidarity with the smallest of families with limited resourcesbecoming their godfathers or godmothers for this Christmas”.
The area staff social welfare will be in charge of selecting the minor beneficiaries and collecting their requests, which will later be transferred to the participants in Sponsor an Illusion. Between December 1 and 15 they must deliver the gifts at the La Torrita Multiple Uses building.
For the mayor of La Orotava, Francisco Linares (CC)this type of solidarity actions are “very necessary”, since they contribute to “make many boys and girls smile on a special day like Three Kings and on these very endearing dates”.

The City Hall of Los Realejos For 12 years, it has also been developing an initiative called Ampadrina una Ilusión, which in 2021 contributed to the arrival of the Three Wise Men in 107 homes for a total of 150 minors, thanks to the aid provided by 130 godfathers and godmothers.
