SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Government of the Canary Islands, through its affiliated company Management of the Rural Environment of the Canary Islands (GMR Canarias), has presented this Tuesday the ‘Canarian Market’ project, an online sales channel to sell and distribute agri-food products made on the islands and that allow reaching the Peninsula and Europe from the archipelago.
This platform has more than 400 references that are increasing and that are in stock at a logistics base located in Madrid.
Among the main products, gofio, mojos, wines, almogrote or cosmetic products stand out, of which more than 60 producers from the archipelago are part.
This official channel of the Canary Islands, which can be accessed through the web www.canarianmarket.comoffers service to professionals and the Horeca channel as well as to individuals, with an average delivery time of 24 and 48 hours for the Peninsula, and up to 72 hours for the rest of Europe.
All this was reported by the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Alicia Vanoostende; the CEO of GMR Canarias, Pablo Zurita, and those responsible for Canarian Market, Javier Camacho and Luis Alcalá, who agreed on “the importance of having a channel that opens up a new market of opportunities for our products and that allows tourists to continue making your purchases from your country of origin at the click of a button”.
The regional manager of the area, Alicia Vanoostende, stressed that the Government of the Canary Islands is “aware” of the difficulties in the sector, from production to marketing, so one of the main commitments is to value the local product , “it is essential that marketing channels be established with short chains, as is the case with ‘Canarian Market’, which allows all households in Europe to be reached from the Canary Islands without intermediaries”.
In his opinion, “we help the local producer, small and large through technology, making known the excellence of our productions.”
He also pointed out that “with the imminent arrival of Christmas, gift packs with Canarian products are a great option to give to people who spend these dates outside the islands.”
For his part, Pablo Zurita pointed out that “‘Canarian Market’ is a challenge that has been overcome and a milestone in public procurement, with a model that works properly, it is a marketing channel that provides a service for Canarian producers without any cost”.
