Titsa will incorporate 108 workers to face the increase in demand

The Board of Directors of titsa has approved the hiring of 108 people, of which 92 will be drivers and 16 technicians, as well as an increase in spending for personnel of 9.2 million euros. These measures are added to the integration of 122 workers to the workforce that took place at the beginning of the year, which creates a total of 230 incorporations.

The first vice president of the Cabildo, island councilor for Mobility and president of Titsa, Enrique Arriagaexplained that the new contracts “will allow us to continue improving the public transport service on the island, which has had a spectacular increase in passengers in the second half of this year.”

Enrique Arriaga highlighted that the company’s continued work to adapt to the needs of travellers, creating new lines, more services and frequencies, together with the increase in the price of gasoline and the reduction in the price of transport subscriptions driven by the council and the State Government, has caused More and more people decide on the bus for their trips.

“The forecasts of our Big Data department for 2023 predict an estimate of transported passengers of more than 50 million, taking into account the current rates (50% discount), but still without taking into account the free transportation, which forces us to increase the workforce to offer a quality public transport service and retain the new users who join,” said Arriaga.

The insular director of Mobility, José Alberto León, maintains that with the increase in drivers in the workforce “it will be possible to strengthen services and even create new lines that respond to the future mobility demand of the island’s inhabitants and visitors”.

The new jobs represent 92 places for driving staff and while the remaining 16 will be allocated to technical staffall of them will be incorporated into group training gradually to begin service during the remainder of the year and at the beginning of 2023.

Previously, 80 positions had already been created for the driving area, 19 for technicians and the rest were assigned to administrative and support personnel. With these figures, Titsa will add a total of 172 new drivers.
