SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 7 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, has guaranteed this Monday that the Canary Islands “participate” in the meetings between Spain and Morocco to delimit the waters “and sit down” with the Spanish delegation.

In a talk-colloquium in the ‘Premium Forum of Diario de Avisos’, he assessed that the work commission between the two countries had not met for 15 years and now, the regional government has appointed a representative who participates in the meetings where They discuss issues that concern the archipelago, apart from the fact that they have also participated in the preparatory meetings.

Albares has also defended the new diplomatic relationship between Spain and Morocco because it is “mutually beneficial” for both countries and is part of the type of relationship that the Government wants to maintain with neighboring countries based on mutual respect, the absence of unilateral actions and the principle of “non-interference” in internal affairs.

He has said that “all the points” signed in the Spanish-Moroccan declaration of April 7 are being fulfilled, which includes, for example, a reinforcement of collaboration on migration matters that has caused a 15% drop in the arrival of boats to the Canary Islands so far this year.

It has also advanced that the president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, is preparing an official trip to Morocco together with a delegation of businessmen from the islands to explore business opportunities.
