TACORONTE (TENERIFE), Nov. 4 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, has advanced this Friday that at the meeting of the Governing Council next Thursday, the replacement of Conrado Domínguez will be appointed as director of the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS) after his resignation due to being investigated by the ‘mask case’.

Speaking to journalists after visiting the Coca-Cola factory in Tenerife, he said that it is “predictable” that there will be a closed name for next Thursday, stressing that the decision will be made in a “collegiate” manner since the president is only responsible the appointment of government councillors.

Torres has reported that Domínguez presented his resignation this Thursday with a letter after holding a meeting with him to find out the details regarding the judicial declaration of the company administrator who has allegedly defrauded the SCS of four million euros, and who recognized his conversations with Dominguez.

However, he has not recognized that he has forced his resignation — “I have already said what has happened, I could not have been clearer” — for which he has urged “not to look for more things.”

However, the president has insisted that “decisions and processes must be respected” and for this reason, he has said that he is still waiting to testify in writing before Court Number 7 of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and “at his disposal” of justice to collaborate and that “everything be clarified”.

“We are facing a file under summary secrecy and ready to respond when a resolution arrives,” he added.

However, Torres has taken advantage of his appearance before the media to “recognize that an unquestionable job has been done” from the SCS with the management of the pandemic because although the Canary Islands “had it as difficult as other” autonomous communities, all the screened in social health centers and was the one with the fewest ICU beds occupied by patients with coronavirus — figures per inhabitant –. “You have to admit it, it’s been a difficult job,” she said.
