SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 4 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Parliament of the Canary Islands hosts next week the conference ‘The autonomy of the Canary Islands before the mirror on its 40th anniversary: challenges and challenges’ organized by the Chamber in coordination with the Ministry of Public Administrations, Justice and Security of the Government of the Canary Islands .

After this journey of four decades of self-government and parliamentarism, the Chamber and the regional Executive consider it opportune to organize this meeting as an “excellent opportunity” to reflect, with an eye on the future, on the main advances experienced in this period in the framework of the Spanish autonomous model.

Thus, during the 8th, 9th and 10th of November, an attempt will be made to delve into issues such as the expansion of powers, the performance of the institutions, the recognition of the RUP condition or the updating of the REF, among others.

These debates will take place around round tables and presentations, with the presence of relevant specialists in the field, collects a note from the Parliament.

The president of the Chamber, Gustavo Matos, recalls the aspiration to make the institution, in this tenth legislature, a space that goes beyond its legislative function and control of the Government, becoming a forum for reflection on all matters of interest for the Canarian society.

In this way, since the beginning of the Legislature, the Parliament Forum initiative has been held, where sustainability, equality, justice, the future of Europe, journalism or the challenges of democracy, among many other issues, have been discussed.
