They seize 105 kilos of limpets from a van on the ferry from Gran Canaria to Tenerife

The Civil Guard 105 kilos of limpets have been intervened in a van on board the ferry that made the route between Gran Canaria and Tenerife. The agents, belonging to the Fiscal Section and Borders of the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerifethey stopped the vehicle, in which three people were travelling, during a random control in the landing area of ​​the fast ferry in the capital of Tenerife, coming from the port of Agaete.

Inside the van, the men carried five raffia sacks filled with barnacles. When asked by the agents, the travelers said that they had caught them themselves at the mouth of the Guayedra ravine, in Agaetelast October 26 in the afternoon freediving.

The Civil Guard carried out a superficial search of the interior of the vehicle, finding several diving equipment, as well as two laperos, which were the ones that were supposedly used to collect the limpets on the seabed.

The Civil Guard agents seized the five sacks of limpets and made the corresponding complaint for infraction of Law 17/2003, of April 10, of Canary fishingaddressed to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheriesin relation to the transport of shellfish in a private vehicle without a document or invoice that could indicate its traceability or origin, thus lacking phytosanitary control, with the consequent health risk that it could entail if it were destined for human consumption.
