The Santa Cruz cemeteries will open today from eight in the morning until six in the afternoon, on the occasion of All Saints’ Day. The Santa Lastenia cemetery is the one with the greatest influx of visitors, so the Santa Cruz City Council is asking the population to avoid crowds. From the Public Services area, directed by Carlos Tarife, it is recalled that smoking is prohibited inside cemeteries as well as any other device for inhaling tobacco, water pipes, hookahs or similar, including electronic cigarettes or vaping. It is also prohibited to eat and drink alcoholic beverages inside the cemetery grounds.

The adornment of the niches will be reduced to the extent that corresponds to each of them. It is recommended to go to the cemeteries with flower arrangements made. In any case, the waste originating from the decoration of the niches must be deposited in the containers placed for this purpose.

Vehicles are prohibited from entering the Santa Lastenia cemetery, except funeral vehicles and funeral processions. While there will be a free bus service for the transfer of visitors within Santa Lastenia. Given the large influx of people expected, there will be well-identified health care posts, and, in addition, an assistance service by the City Council’s Civil Protection Volunteer Group.

Access

As for the ways to get to Santa Lastenia, the bus and taxi stops located in the surroundings of the cemetery remain the same, without any modification or limitation being established. While taxis will abide by the same traffic regulations dictated for other vehicles, except that they will be allowed access to the TF-29 from the Hoya Fría road, access to which will remain closed today.

The Titsa line 932 will circulate today in a special way linking the Santa Cruz Interchange with the cemetery, from 7:05 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with departure intervals of one hour. The route of the line includes José Manuel Guimerá Avenue, the Nuestra Señora de Africa Market, Calderón de la Barca, 3 de Mayo Avenue, the neighborhoods of Los Gladiolos and Chamberí and, finally, the Santa Lastenia cemetery. The return route will run through Chamberí, Los Gladiolos, Manuel Hermoso Rojas, La Salle, San Sebastián Avenue and José Hernández Alfonso until reaching the Santa Cruz Transport Interchange.

This year, in addition, the car parks located behind the funeral home are already paved, so parking will be safer, although you can also park on the Hoya Fría road.
