A press conference that was “interrupted” by the mayor Manuel Alonso del Castillo, his wife and a companion, recently arrived from the eighteenth century. The ramblero president, Ezequiel Domínguez, humorously received a visit that left San Juan de la Rambla with two mayors, at least until Saturday 29.

The Councilor for Cultural Heritage, Gloria Mendez, explained that this year’s edition will serve to review the first four, with the support of the local theater groups La Chistera and La Alhóndiga, as well as numerous volunteers. The mayor also encouraged neighbors and visitors to “go dressed in period clothes, change their mentality and dare to travel back in time.”

Domínguez said that in the first four editions, the Baroque Market of the Canary Islands «has managed to establish itself as one of the most popular events in the North. With hundreds of people who gather in the square of the historic center to enjoy the day, the offer of its market stalls and the theatrical performances». In his opinion, “this year’s edition will be specialsince it returns eagerly after two years of waiting”, and with the aim that this fifth edition “exceeds the previous ones in quality and activities”.

The insular director of Agriculture and Rural Development, Cayetano Silva, also attended the press conference on behalf of the Cabildo of Tenerife and assured that this event evokes “times when the north of Tenerife was a national and even a world power in the world of wine, thanks to its malvasías”. The organization of the Baroque Market It also has the collaboration of the Cabildo and the Tenerife Rural Foundation.

San Juan de la Rambla It has already started with the preparations and the decoration of the streets of the town, where fabric pennants with different motifs have been placed. In addition, the Consistory announces that there will be a sixth edition of the Baroque Market in 2023.
