SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 24 Oct. (EUROPE PRESS) –

Fepeco and the UGT and CCOO unions have signed the construction agreement with a 3 percent wage increase for 2022 and 2023 and have also agreed on the work schedule for 2023.

The president of Fepeco, Óscar Izquierdo, has shown his satisfaction “for the social dialogue that exists in the construction sector as a model to follow, since for more than 30 years there has been no conflict in the sector, but collaboration between social agents , where the Construction Labor Foundation has played and continues to play an important role”. “We are exemplary in seeking agreements and finding solutions,” he added.

José Manuel Ojeda Garcia, general secretary of the CCOO del Habitat de Canarias, highlighted the importance of the agreement because “it is a step forward for working people”, emphasizing that they would have preferred a higher increase, but “the responsibility and maintenance of employment, together with the current economic conditions, they demand a positive input.

Beatriz M. Mendez Diaz, representative of UGT-FICA Canarias, highlighted the capacity for understanding that has been imposed in the negotiation of the provincial agreement, putting general interests before individuals. “We continue in the daily struggle to defend workers in the construction sector, where we call on women for their full incorporation; we are waiting for them, because we urgently need their contribution,” she said.

The new agreement contemplates the following annual salary increases: apply an update of 3% to the tables for the year 2021 in force with effect from January 1, 2022, to those in force in 2022 they will be updated by 3% with effect from day 1 of January 2023. The arrears that the salary increase produces will be paid to the workers in the ninety calendar days from the publication in the Official Gazette of the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
