The Museum of Nature and Archeology (MUNA) of the Cabildo de Tenerife has hosted this Wednesday the reading of the manifesto of the Amate association on the occasion of the ‘World Breast Cancer Day’ that is celebrated every October 19.
This text, prepared by the 47 associations that are part of the Spanish Federation of Breast Cancer (FECMA), stressed the need to continue advancing in the investigation of this disease and the importance of prevention to achieve early detection.
The insular Councilor for Museums, Concepción Rivero; the insular director of Innovation, Planning and Modernization of Social Action, Asunción Bacallado; the director of the Health area of Tenerife of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ignacio Carlos López; the Councilor for Sports of the Santa Cruz City Council, Alicia Cebrián; the delegate councilor for Social Action, Rosario González; the president of the Tenerife Breast Cancer Association, María Carmen Bonfante and the writer María Isabel Hernández.
In addition, the first vice president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Enrique Arriaga, and other members of the Amate association were present at the event, collects a note from the Cabildo.
The objective of the act is to raise awareness and awareness about breast cancer, as well as to continue the fight so that women have access to early detection campaigns and receive the best treatments.
The manifesto stressed the need for a public, universal, free, quality and efficient health system that responds to the changes that occur in society.
Along these lines, a special mention and thanks were also made to the quality of the health personnel, who despite not having all the necessary means, do a great job.
Likewise, the implantation of a breast unit in each hospital, an oncology nurse who guides the patient from the moment of detection, the reduction of waiting times after diagnosis and the increase in the patient’s decision-making capacity were called for. , as well as the information provided to you about your treatment.
