SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 18 Oct. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has recorded four cases of monkeypox under study since Friday, with no new confirmed cases having been registered.
Therefore, since the beginning of the declaration of the health alert there have been 175 confirmed cases, of which 102 were detected in Gran Canaria, 66 in Tenerife, four in Fuerteventura, two in Lanzarote and one in La Palma.
All active cases are having mild symptoms and remain in home isolation receiving follow-up from Primary Care.
Thus, the confirmed and notified cases in the Canary Islands since the beginning of the alert and until today are as follows: 175 confirmed cases, 102 in Gran Canaria, 66 in Tenerife, four in Fuerteventura, two in Lanzarote and one in La Palma; four cases under study, pending confirmation, notified three in Gran Canaria and one in La Palma.
The protocol of the Ministry of Health classifies cases between probable and suspected depending on whether the patient meets clinical criteria and epidemiological criteria (probable cases) or if it only presents clinical criteria and in such case it is considered a suspected case.
