they occur again avocado thefts in Tenerife, specifically in farms in the north. This has been warned by the general secretary of the Association of Farmers and Ranchers of the Canary Islands (ASAGA), Theo Hernández, before the microphones of COPE Canary Islands: “Several associates have alerted us because they are having entrances to the farms and small thefts.”
Likewise, it reports that “the ROCA Group of the Civil Guard has arrested a person these days and has located another individual just when he was preparing” to commit the crime.
The spokesman asks the farmers to take extreme precautions over the next few weeks: “The strong avocado campaign has just started and the Hass avocado campaign, the most valued, will begin shortly.”
In turn, “we ask that they not be bought on the street, at street vendors, since these avocados may be treated or picked ahead of time, so they won’t taste like anything. In addition, we must remember that prices are going to be cheaper soon because the offer will be greater”.
The secretary of ASAGA recalls that not only avocado thefts are perpetrated at this time, but also chestnuts: “People, in general, think that chestnut trees in the midlands are public property, but this is not the case. Those trees are planted by farmers who take care of them and who collect the fruit as an economic activity, therefore, they must be clear that they are stealing.
