SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 17 Oct. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The El Rincón Consortium, to which the Ministry of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning of the Government of the Canary Islands belongs, has completed the works to improve access to the Martínez Alonso-Los Patos beach, in La Orotava, and in the next few days will proceed to the signature of its receipt.

The director of the area, José Antonio Valbuena, recalled that the main objective of this action is to guarantee the safety of visitors who access the area and asked to respect the current fences and signage.

“Until the procedure for receiving the work is completed, the new facilities cannot be opened, so we must ask the public for caution,” he said.

The mayor of La Orotava, Francisco Linares García, values the culmination of the work of this long-awaited and demanded work, “necessary to guarantee the safety of beach users”.

This project has become complicated over time due to various circumstances and the difficulty of carrying out the work vertically must also be taken into account, “but the important thing is that the work is already completed and it will soon be opened for use and enjoyment, so which also asks users for a little more patience until the work is received by the Government of the Canary Islands”, highlights the mayor in a note.

Linares appreciates the involvement of the public administrations and the City Council itself, which have always contributed the financial amounts necessary to carry out this great action.

The work carried out includes the construction of a stairway and a path that will facilitate reaching the coast, through a path that previously had impassable sections due to the detachment and sinking of part of the structure.

This action is one of the main axes of Law 5/1992, of July 15, for the management of the El Rincón-La Orotava area.

The counselor explained that the development of these works has been complex, but highlighted the fulfillment of the established deadlines and the effort to blend them with the environment and the use of environmentally friendly materials.

“The conditions of the land have required a practically artisan execution, since in this enclave it is hardly possible to work with machinery”, he indicates.

Among the actions carried out is the installation of a metal mesh and a 750 KJ dynamic screen, which will protect the path from the marine environment and possible landslides that may occur on the stairs.

The total budget for the work is 650,765.88 euros, financed by the El Rincón Consortium, which has received, during 2020 and 2021, 175,000 euros per year from the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, in addition to a grant from the Environmental Management Area Natural and Security of the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife for an amount of 300,000 euros.
