This Monday the roundabout of the Dominican Republic opens, on which work has been carried out in recent weeks to give pedestrian continuity to the Rambla de Santa Cruz as it passes through this point. As confirmed by the Councilor for Public Services, Carlos Tarife, “this Monday the work will be available to pedestrians, who will no longer have to leave the central promenade to continue on their way.”
The work carried out on the roundabout that is located in front of the Viera y Clavijo park, at the intersection of Avenida de Belgica and San Sebastián, has consisted of widening a section of sidewalk and painting a pedestrian crossing, and within the own roundabout, an accessible passage is enabled and connects with Reyes Católicos avenue with another pedestrian crossing.
The last section that is missing to achieve total continuity is the one that corresponds to the intersection of the Rambla with Avenida 25 de Julio, an intervention that, Tarife confirmed, will be addressed next year. “We want to start the work in January so that it is ready before the May Festivities. The mechanism will be the same, the roundabout will be enlarged, and pedestrian crossings will be painted”. Once it is finished “the historical milestone of going from Anaga Avenue to the municipal swimming pools through the center of La Rambla will be achieved”.
