The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, has met with the residents of Las Eras and the municipality of Fasnia to present the content of Reconstruction project of the Las Eras beach breakwater to protect bathers and reduce the intensity of the waves.

The meeting also featured the intervention of the mayor of Fasnia, Luis Javier González, together with the island’s Director of Tourism, Laura Castro, and the project’s technicians.

The company Satocan will be in charge of the execution of the works that will start before the end of the year. For its development, with a planned period of eight months, an item of 516,393 euros has been approved, to be fully financed by the Island Corporation.

Pedro Martín announced that in addition to the reconstruction of the breakwater, a second phase is planned to improve access, condition and beautify the beach promenade area and put new urban, modern and accessible furniture.

“With this project we respond to a historic demand that the neighbors have raised with us,” added the president, who highlighted the boost in investment that is being given by the Cabildo to actions to improve and refurbish the coastal areas of the island, to revitalize the points most visited by the population and contribute to boosting the economy of the municipalities”, he added.

The mayor of Fasnia, Luis Javier González, highlighted, for his part, “the involvement and support of the Cabildo in several important actions for the municipality, the work in Los Roques, which is now entering its last phase, and now the start of the construction of the Las Eras breakwater, a key work to guarantee the use of the beach throughout the year, in an area that is also one of the windiest in the region”.

The insular director of Tourism, Laura Castro, emphasized that these works are of vital importance for the municipality, for the well-being of the local population and visitors.

“From the Tourism area, he announced that we intend to continue with this type of meeting also in the rest of the coastal municipalities in which we will act this season, so that the neighbors are the first to know the content of the works before its beginning, explain the characteristics of the works, resolve their doubts, and that they know the deadlines and phases of execution”, added Castro.

The action is part of the Tenerife and the Sea program, within the framework of the Medi-Fdcan funds, which aims to improve the island’s coastal towns, beaches and coastline, to enhance its tourist attractions.
