The Council of Tenerife, through the Mobility and Highways area, recently opened a direct connection lane to traffic that connects the La Villa Shopping Center area, in La Orotava, and the TF-333 and TF-320 highways with the North highway (TF -5), in the Santa Cruz direction. From the insular area, it is highlighted that “this new road especially benefits the three municipalities of the Valley (Puerto de la Cruz, La Orotava and Los Realejos), since it improves traffic conditions and avoids the formation of queues that occur, above all, during peak hours and periods of great influx of people to the aforementioned shopping center.

The first vice president and island councilor for Mobility, Roads and Innovation, Enrique Arriaga (Cs), explains that “this area has a daily influx of more than 50,000 vehicles, while the two roads that lead to the link, the TF-333 and the TF-320, present intensities of use greater than 10,000 vehicles per day, according to the latest data extracted from the 2020 capacity campaign, carried out by the Cabildo de Tenerife.

Arriaga assures that “with the modifications made to the road, users will be able to access the TF-5 directly from the shopping complex and also from the island roads TF-333 and TF-320, which reach the nearby towns of La Vera, The light and La Montañeta.

The insular director of Mobility, José Alberto León, explains that this new lane, which has a width of 3.50 meters and a hard shoulder of 0.50 metres, “has been executed in less time than planned and at no time has interfered with traffic in the area. In addition, he recalls that “it is one of the many actions that the Cabildo de Tenerife is developing with the aim of speeding up traffic and improving the safety of users of the island’s roads.” This new road, which was scheduled to open at the end of this month, October, is now open to traffic in order to avoid congestion and the slowdown of traffic in the area.
