These days the documentary film Surfer’s Guide to Playa de Las Américas is being shot in Arona, a work by Tenerife surfer Nacho Sebastiá, who together with his brother Paolo Giorgi is creating a piece of great artistic and creative value focused on the dissemination of natural resources of the south of Tenerife and the culture of surfing.
Although it offers shots of various areas of the island, the film is being shot almost entirely in Arona, the municipality where Nacho was born 27 years ago, and of which he has a very clear opinion: “I have chosen Arona not only because of my connection but also for the easy accessibility to all the beaches and above all because in the municipality we have 12 different waves in less than 3 km of coastline, something unique in Europe.”
The project is directed by Nacho Sebastiá himself, together with a professional camera team, who have traveled to the island with the idea of obtaining a high-level audiovisual result, with the idea of obtaining “a product that is respected by the international industry that not just any image of surfing is worth it, high quality is necessary on the part of the surfer and the filming team”, affirms the creator from the Hotel Bitácora, one of the main sponsors of the documentary together with Turismo de Tenerife, Turismo de Arona and Crown. The final result, consisting of two documentary chapters and a digital guide to the island for surfers, will begin to be seen in mid-November.
Originally from Los Cristianos, where he began surfing at the age of 11, Nacho Sebastiá is currently focused on free surfing and digital content, where he enjoys the international recognition of the community for his style and aesthetics, which narrate an emotional and close reality. In addition to his role as creator of audiovisual content, which has taken him to some of the most important festivals in the industry, he is the owner of Tilegit Surf School, a school in Playa de Las Américas from which he helps local athletes improve their surfing and obtain achievements in international competitions.
