The Pleno e Granadilla unlocks 127,000 square meters to create the new San Isidro

Passion fruit definitively approved the partial plan for the Northwest Sector of San Isidro, 127,410.30 square meters of public land –which ranges from the environment of the field of football La Palmera to the intersection of El Saltadero – which has room for 874 homes (private and protected development), a large urban park as a green lung, leisure and recreation spaces and a sports city. The Urban Planning file, which dates from 2005 and to which the Plenary gave its approval, has the environmental and sectoral evaluation reports, the pertinent economic feasibility study and those corresponding to the municipal technicians. The next step will be to proceed to its public exhibition and, subsequently, to the approval of the subdivision and urbanization projects.

The mayor, José Domingo Regalado, describes the agreement as “great news for our municipality and a commitment by this municipal government to unlock a vital urban plan for the future development of Granadilla de Abona.” The fact that this frees up a large area located in the central part of the municipality of Granada stands out.

This file was opened with the General Planning Plan (PGO) in 2005. It defends that because “work has been done since we entered the government to have this large bag of public land that will be used for different uses and facilities of a diverse social nature, sports, educational and leisure. Regalado emphasizes that they are not the only partial plans that are being worked on, since the Urban Planning area has made great progress in unblocking other urbanization plans of great importance for Granadilla, such as La Vaguada ( San Isidro), Arenas del Mar (El Médano) and Las Maretas (near Los Abrigos).

Sports infrastructure.

The First Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Sports, Marcos González, states that around 22,000 square meters of the Northwest Sector Partial Plan will be used for sports and will include, as a sports city, the execution of a stadium, a pavilion and courts, as well as calisthenics points, among other endowments. He explains that these sports infrastructures “will be for the enjoyment of the entire population”, with preference for sports groups. “The idea is that they can also host events and activities.” In his opinion, “we are facing the future planning not only of San Isidro, but of all of Granadilla de Abona, which will gain more resources and better services in accordance with population demand and the reality of the municipality.”

The figures of the partial plan.

Granadilla de Abona is the fourth largest municipality in Tenerife, with more than 60,000 inhabitantsand one of those that registers the highest demographic growth at the national level, with the plus that more than half of its residents are located in San Isidro.

In total, the scope of the Northwest Sector of San Isidro partial plan has an area of 127,410.30 square metres, of which 15,000 are set aside for a large urban park or green lung; more than 4,900 are allocated to landscaped areas and green points; more than 22,000 square meters will occupy the sports facilities and two areas are reserved for two small squares.

The mixed and collective nature of residential use has been established, so that a large percentage of the 874 homes established by the General Planning Plan in the area will correspond to the protected modality. This northwest sector of San Isidro will also have a connection from the Autopista del Sur, which will serve to decongest traffic on the main road arteries of San Isidro.

Rubén García Casañas, Councilor for Town Planning, expresses his “great satisfaction” at the final approval of this partial plan, whose history dates back 17 years, this being one of the objectives set as a priority by this government group. He emphasizes that “it is a great commitment to provide the municipality with land for residential use, with a large percentage for protected housing”, and values the rest of the elements to be developed in the area. “All of this is essential to advance in the orderly growth that we want for the municipality, and for which previous governments had never opted before,” the mayor points out.
