Villa Feliz, the non-profit association created by a group of lawyers from Tenerife to promote social and humanitarian causes, will hold its III Solidarity Event in the Amarilla Golf Club, in the municipality of San Miguel de Abona, in the second fortnight of this month.
During the meeting, which will be attended by more than 150 invited jurists of recognized prestige, including magistrates, judges, prosecutors, lawyers, notaries and registrars, a work by the painter Celestino Mesa, winner of the Manolo Millares Plastic Arts Foundation Cajacanarias 2022 prize, inspired by the recent eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano in La Palma.
The proceeds obtained through the auction (on the last occasion the work reached the price of 7,500 euros), together with the contributions of the guests and the donations of the collaborating companies, will go entirely to projects to help children in Tenerife and Samaná (Dominican Republic), a town where the association has promoted numerous solidarity actions, including the launch of a bus so that children can go to school without having to walk 10 kilometers every day, and the creation from various baseball schools.
Villa Feliz has also developed multiple initiatives in Tenerife aimed at helping the most vulnerable families, through financial contributions and delivery of basic necessities, as well as the distribution of school supplies and uniforms to a hundred zero-fee students from schools in the north and south of the Island. Among these actions, it is worth highlighting the delivery of material for a total value of 30,000 euros for educational centers in Icod de los Vinos and Granadilla de Abona in the current 2022-23 academic year.
As explained to this newspaper by the president of the association, Juan Pablo Carlos Barett, and the vice president, the Tenerife judge María de los Ángeles De Lorenzo-Cáceres Farizo, the III Solidarity Event will feature musical performances by the pianist Francisco Parra, the soprano Carmen Acosta and the groups Maquinaria Band, Enrique Barrios and his band, and Joe’s Band, among others, “without ruling out any last-minute surprises.” An acrobat show and the performance of two dance couples are also planned.
The menu will be in charge of Alberto González Margallo, chef and owner of the San Sebastián 57 restaurant, who will set up the kitchen with all his team in the golf course clubhouse. Attendees will also have a round trip bus service from the Santa Cruz Palace of Justice.
The III Solidarity Event has the support of Encuentro Moda, Grupo Pida, Egatesa, BMW, Group Number 1 Benetton and La Compostelana. Heineken, Royal Bliss, Dialte, El Gusto por el Vino, Bodegas Torres, Geremar, Musicanarias and Liveevents, among other firms, also collaborate.
