The City Council of Granadilla will undertake a “comprehensive renovation” of Medano through a set of works, which will begin in 2023 and which include a paving and pedestrianization plan, the improvement of the water supply and rainwater network, as well as the renovation of the wooden promenade, which connects the central beach to the area of Los Balos.

Municipal sources confirmed that the two million euros budgeted to undertake the works are part of the extraordinary credit that was taken to the plenary session last Tuesday and the investment will be used for actions that already have projects and authorizations. In this way, the bidding procedures will begin in the near future.

Almost half of the investment (963,585 euros) will go to the paving and pedestrian plan. Up to 14 roads will improve their pavement: the maritime avenues, Magallanes and Juan Carlos I, and the streets Hermano Pedro, Iriarte, Tarajal, Uruguay, England, Argentina, Brazil, La Gaviota, Miguel El Pescador, La Graciosa and Francisco Cruz. The roads that will be pedestrianized will be Villa de La Orotava, El Confital and Carmen Nóbrega, which will allow the population “to gain in quality of life, safety and well-being,” said the mayor, José Domingo Regalado, who stressed that, with these works, “response is given to the real needs of the neighbors”.

The renovation of the wooden promenade will require an investment of 466,142 euros, while the water supply network project, which will replace the current sanitation network, which is more than 30 years old, will cost 451,411 euros

The plan also contemplates the substitution of the supply networks in José Miguel Galván Bello and Príncipes de España avenues and in Tenerife street, in addition to the replacement of the affected pavements, facilities and services.
