The plenary session of Tacoronte endorses the plan that resurfaces half of the streets of the Tacoronte municipality

The government group Tacoronte get the support of all the political groups in plenary for the ambitious asphalt paving plan launched last April with the first works. It benefits most of the streets in the municipality with a series of improvement actions that began with the section of road that runs between the Las Toscas area and Calle Calvario, at its confluence with the center of Santa Catalina.

The project, developed by the Works and Services area, directed by Antonio Gil Goya, has a budget of 7.1 million euros for actions in a total of 92 streets, “the most important investment that the municipality has made in this matter”. Gil Goya adds that this action “is going to correct the years in which this City Council has not put a remedy to the deterioration that our roads have been suffering, making a commitment to the future that will guarantee having very resistant and latest generation materials”.

The Councilor for Works and Services announced, after the approval by the municipal plenary of a supplement of credit in which this project was contemplated, that the plan is structured in four lots with an average of 1.7 million each. The bulk of the works can be put out to tender with the intention that, before the end of the year, the Las Toscas area and Calle Calvario can continue after the April action.

The mayor, José Daniel Díaz, remarked that “it is the most important project in this matter ever undertaken by the municipality, which we assume with our own funds.” The total area of this plan covers more than 30 linear kilometers of paved roads, which reveals the importance of action in a network that not only connects Tacoronte with the interior of the municipality, but also with the surrounding municipalities of El Rosario, El Sauzal and La Laguna, “which favors safer movements,” clarifies the mayor.

José Daniel Díaz specified that the award by lots of the bulk of the planned works “will have the advantage that by having four winning companies, the work can be carried out in parallel and simultaneously on different routes.” Thus, he commented that the intention is to bid before the end of the year and estimated that the duration of the execution will be 8 months. The mayor explained that the 92 roads that will be paved represent 46% of the municipal road network.
