The plenary session of the El Rosario City Council gave an account this Thursday of the resignation of the until now first deputy mayor and councilor for the Treasury, Sara Cabello, number two of the party led by the mayor, Escolástico Gil, IR-Greens. The mayor, visibly moved at the beginning of her farewell, pointed out that her departure was due exclusively to internal differences with the mayor. In her own words, “there have been differences in the conception we have of the functioning of a government and the management of the public.” Cabello, who pointed out that he was not going to go into more details, added, addressing the mayor, that “you have a golden time, and I only hope that in these seven months you will be able to fix some internal issues that you have to fix.”

The mayor of IR-Greens continued addressing Gil. “I will be by your side, organically, at IR-Greens. My political commitment is not going to change, that is going to stay one way or another,” she said.

The former mayor clarified that she is not going to participate in any offensive against the mayor, nor is she going to go to another party, to insist that her departure “has to do with internal differences” although she acknowledged that the delicate health situation that is happening A family member supported him in making this decision.

The mayor, who asked for a plenary recess just before Cabello’s resignation, seems that in a last attempt to change his mind, he thanked him for his work. He did so in a very serious way, in clear contrast to the emotion of the IR-Greens councillor. “Both in your three and a half years as an advisor to the PSOE and in these three you have done a great job, I do not dispute this. I thank you for not only supporting me in this plenary session and for continuing to work in the party to obtain the electoral results in May that this party deserves, for a management of great efforts and work. A great job has been done, and you are the architect of it. I thank you for your support always and being by my side for so many hours.”

Cabello, during her speech, admitted that even for herself, “it was imaginable that my farewell would take place in these circumstances.” “I am leaving with a broken heart -she continued- because the greatest pride for me is being a public official in my town. My actions precede me, what I have worked for remains there”. And she clarified that her resignation implied the delivery of the act of councilor to her party because “I don’t conceive it any other way.”

The former councilor concluded by thanking the officials, workers, Civil Protection and all her neighbors, especially those from her neighborhood, Lomo Colorado, for the support provided during all this time.
