The managing director of the La Laguna Town Planning Department, Santiago Pérez, yesterday defended the management of his department, assuring that “the desperation of the spokesperson for the Canarian Coalition, Jonathan Domínguez, due to his lack of a project and leadership, which has them on the verge of the electoral abyss, leads them to resort to entanglement and lies in relation to the instructions of the La Laguna Urban Development Management on urban infractions. Santiago Pérez argued that “it is false that the instruction allows me to arbitrarily decide who is sanctioned and who is not. And, above all, it is directly a slanderous statement to say that I have given favor treatment to the mayor or to other prominent militants of the PSOE at the same time that hundreds of citizens are being sanctioned”.
“No sanctioning file for urban planning infraction was processed in the previous legislature,” recalled Santiago Pérez, who stressed that, along these lines, “maintaining the criteria established since 2015 when Urbanism was directed by CC” of not considering sanctioning files a priority, except exceptionally serious circumstances, in September 2020 an instruction is issued that establishes an order of objective priorities to try to prevent the most relevant from expiring, responding to the legal principles of fairness, proportionality and least intervention.
Santiago Pérez defended that “the Management has acted in this matter as with any other citizen: with a head of service applying priorities to the files based on objective technical criteria.”
