Titsa will receive 60 hybrid buses until March

Interurban Transport of Tenerife (Titsa), company of the Cabildo de Tenerife, will receive 60 hybrid buses until March, that are part of the batch of 110 vehicles of this technology acquired by the Insular Corporation to use in urban and interurban lines.

The Minister of Mobility and president of Titsa, Enrique Arriaga, offered this information during the visit he made to the facilities of Castrosúa, a company in charge of installing the bodywork of the vehicles, in which he was accompanied by technicians from the company.

“The incorporation of these buses and those that remain will mean a significant reduction in CO2 emissions, in addition to considerable savings in fossil fuel consumption,” said Arriaga. In this way, Titsa takes a step forward and leads, within its environmental commitment, the purchase and use of sustainable intercity buses.

HYBRID TECHNOLOGY

An electric hybrid bus uses two different types of energy to achieve its displacement: on the one hand, an internal combustion engine, usually diesel; and on the other, one or more electric motors. With these two technologies you can run the thermal motor, the electric motor or both together.

In this way, the hybrid system can easily reduce fuel consumption -a reduction of an average of 30% is estimated- and, with this, minimize polluting emissions from the exhaust -mainly diesel- such as nitrogen oxides NOx and nanoparticles.

The new vehicles meet all the characteristics in terms of accessibility and incorporate the facilities that are being implemented in response to user needs, such as USB ports for recharging mobile devices or TFT technology screens.
