SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 29 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Institute of Social and Socio-Sanitary Care (IASS), has begun the inoculation of the fourth dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 to the users of its directly managed residential centers.

Specifically, around 640 booster doses will be administered to people residing in the Hospital Nuestra Señora de Los Dolores, the Hospital Febles Campos, the Hospital Santísima Trinidad, the Ofra Nursing Home and the Güímar CAMP.

The third vice president and councilor for Social Action of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Marián Franquet, explained that “the positive effect of vaccination in controlling the COVID-19 pandemic has been amply demonstrated, avoiding many deaths and serious cases and allowing us to return to some degree of normalcy.

The counselor recalled that “the pandemic is not over, winter is coming again and it is a key moment for the control of the virus. That is why this process of inoculating a new booster dose is essential, which guarantees the health safety of all people we serve in our residential centers.

In addition, the IASS will carry out a purchase of diagnostic tests that allow the differentiation and detection of both the COVID-19 virus and the flu. “In this way, we will be able to quickly and easily identify which pathogen is causing each symptom, allowing us to take the appropriate measures in each case,” he explains.

Likewise, from a social point of view, Franquet highlights the role of the vaccine in “giving peace of mind to our elders”, while explaining that the pandemic “has been a very stressful situation for this group and it is precisely immunization that it can make it possible for people who were afraid from the beginning of the pandemic to recover their lives little by little.

These vaccines have a duration of 70 days, which allows the Institute to organize the process more appropriately and program the inoculations with the necessary time.
