SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 28 Sep. (EUROPE PRESS) –

Metrotenerife, a company attached to the Cabildo de Tenerife, has recently been honored for its Removable Rail Insulating Jacket device at the ERCI 2022 Innovation Awards granted by Eurorail Clusters.

The Island Councilor for Mobility and President of Metrotenerife, Enrique Arriaga, together with the Island Director for Mobility, José Alberto León, wanted to personally congratulate the company’s Projects team for the new international award and for the development of this device that is of so much interest is waking up in the field of guided transport.

Enrique Arriaga underlined the relevance of this recognition as it was granted by the European Railway Cluster Initiative (ERCI), the main European association of the railway industry, which brings together the 16 largest innovation clusters from 17 countries on the continent.

“Undoubtedly, we should be very proud of the high professional qualifications of our Metrotenerife technicians and their innovative character, because they not only make the tram a fundamental element for mobility on the island, but also because with their work they have achieved that the Metrotenerife brand be a benchmark in the railway sector and, at the same time, position our island as an international point of R&D&i development”, he added.

The director of the Projects department, Raúl Parra, was present at the event, accompanied by Pablo Oromí and Teresa Benet, who are part of this area where this engineering solution, the Removable Rail Insulating Jacket, was created and promoted.

Precisely, Oromí, one of the main developers of the tool, collected the Coup de Coeur award from the Jury awarded by the ERCI Innovation Awards during the InnoTrans international rail transport fair, which was held in Berlin last week.

In the eighth edition of the ERCI Innovation Awards, thirty-one finalist companies opted for only three awards, one of them being the Coup de Coeur, which was awarded to the Removable Insulating Jacket for Metrotenerife Rail. It should be noted that last year this device won the award for Best Technical Innovation in Infrastructure of the Year at the Global Light Rail Awards in the United Kingdom.
