SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 28 Sep. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Science and Technology Park, collaborates with the Government of the Canary Islands to present the new edition of the ‘Talentum Future’ program with the theme of Talent, Innovation and Sustainable Entrepreneurship, whose term is now open for educational centers.

The objective of this initiative is to involve students, teachers and families from public education centers in the creation of projects that address problems in society and that use innovative ideas related to new technologies.

The First Vice President and Island Councilor for Innovation, Enrique Arriaga, explains in a note that “this program promotes interest in science and technology among young people and prepares them to face the challenges of the future”.

Along these lines, he assures that “there are already 62 public centers in Tenerife that have participated in previous editions and that last year was the first time that students from La Palma, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and La Gomera joined, which shows the good reception that this project has”.

The dynamics of ‘Talentum Future’ is divided into three phases. In the first, a research work is carried out, to conceive the idea that will later materialize, then, in the prototyping phase, the creation and experimentation of the project is carried out to finish with its presentation and defense.

The purpose is to promote students’ innovation skills through an active learning program.

With this, the aim is to identify and develop the skills that make it easier for students to choose their professional career, as well as to educate in values linked to innovation, an entrepreneurial attitude and creative thinking.

The Minister of Education, Universities, Culture and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands, Manuela Armas, highlights that “the objectives of this project are in line with those of the Steam Canarias area for the promotion of scientific vocations and creativity, of the Directorate General Planning, Innovation and Quality”.

In the same way, the head of the department thanked “the collaboration provided by the Cabildo de Tenerife in this initiative in which students from both that island and the rest participate, although as of today it is unknown how many there will be because the registration to participation remains open.

To participate in ‘Talentum Future’, a project linked to science and technology must be presented.

BIOTECHNOLOGY

To do this, topics such as biotechnology, nanotechnology, audiovisual animation, artificial intelligence, robotics, 3D printing, the creation of new materials for application in various environments, the internet of things, virtual reality or the gamification.

In addition, among the disciplines of special interest is the use of different languages during the process of materializing the idea, as well as the use of communication techniques at the time of project presentation.

This initiative is aimed at students in Primary Education, Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate, Vocational Training, Education for Adults and Enclave Classrooms in public centers in the Canary Islands, as well as their teachers, who will be trained through a series of workshops on training to subsequently guide students in learning innovative skills and project management.

The registration period will be open until October 5 through the following link: https://www3.gobiernodecanarias.org/medusa/ecoescuela/proced…
