A new bus line and a reinforcement line for urban transport in Candelaria

The Cabildo of Tenerife In this way, it integrates the urban transport network of Candelaria into the insular transport network, with which users will be able to use, as up to now, the purse card in the urban network, and also benefit from discounts when transferring to other island lines or use the monthly passes – such as the youth or the resident -, of which until now they could not make use of.

The Minister of Mobility and President of Titsa, Enrique Arriaga, explains that “this incorporation will mean for the residents of Candelaria, especially in the mid-range area, having greater connectivity by being able to use all the tickets of the island transport network and transship with Titsa’s network ”. “The Cabildo works to improve the public transport service throughout the island so that users make use of it and with the same conditions live where they live, whether in the metropolitan area or in rural areas.”

Mari Brito, Mayor of Candelaria, highlights that the service has been integrated into the money system of Titsa, “So that Candelaria users will be able to enjoy the bonus system with the same advantages as all Titsa users.” “We are very happy with this novelty, for which we have been working for a long time. Candelaria has a great improvement in this service whose demand has increased in recent years ”.

Jorge Baute, Councilor for Transportation of Candelaria, clarified that urban transport adds to the annual investment of 153,000 euros another 85,000 euros, which will mean more than 230,000 euros per year. The on-demand transport service, also known as shared taxi, is a commitment of the Candelaria City Council that since 2009 has transported a million people. Currently, lines 1 and 2 are carried out by the company Transporte La Esperanza, which will also carry out the new reinforcement line, while the remaining three lines, plus the new line 6, are operated by the UTE Taxi Compartido de Candelaria.
