SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 26 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife has proceeded to deactivate the Territorial Emergency Plan (PEIN) that had been launched preventively last Friday, as well as the restrictive measures, since the Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands has reduced the maximum alert for rains to the alert category.

The corporation underlines that last Friday the Government of the Canary Islands decreed, starting at 00:00 hours on Saturday, the maximum alert situation due to the risk of rain, storms and wind throughout the archipelago due to the presence near the archipelago of a tropical depression that the same Saturday acquired the condition of cyclone.

During the weekend there have been various incidents on the island, most of them related to small landslides, minor flooding, traffic accidents, and some material damage, without any personal injury being reported, collects a note from the Cabildo.

Road staff of the Cabildo, Firefighters of Tenerife and Civil Protection remained, throughout the weekend, activated in reinforcement shifts to attend to the incidents that have occurred.

Thus, the Highway Service proceeded to close a section of TF-31 through Cascada de Martiánez in Puerto de la Cruz, and the Punta de Teno highway, in Buenavista del Norte.

Tenerife Firefighters activated some 20 exits on both days, which has not exceeded the usual forecasts.

When the PEIN is deactivated, the protection measures activated are also repealed, such as the suspension of outdoor activities, camping areas and recreational areas are reopened, guided tourist activities, outdoor sports activities, as well as programming of jobs abroad dependent on the areas of the Cabildo.
