CANARY ISLANDS TROPICAL STORM |  ‘Hermine’ triggers 300 canceled flights in the Canary Islands

In the early hours of this Monday, September 26, a total of 540 flights have been canceled in Canary Islands because of the rains arising from tropical depression ‘Hermine’as indicated Aena through its official twitter at 08:00 am this Monday, September 26. This is the last hour provided on the situation of the airports of the Archipelago since the last update of Aena last Sunday, in which the 252 failed flights were reported in addition to 25 diversions.

Despite this critical situation, the eight airports in the Archipelago have been operational although few aircraft have been able to operate on them. Priority has also been given to recommending passengers to consult with their airline in the event of possible delays or cancellations.

In this sense, the controllers have reported thate Eurocontrol activated the zero ‘Rate’ early on Sunday afternoon for Gran Canaria Y Tenerife because of the rain and the visibilitywhich means that no flight could take off towards these two islands until it was deactivated.

By islands, this Sunday the Tenerife North Airport-City of La Laguna Registration 95 cancellations and seven diversions.

In addition, the airport area of The Palm had 41 cancellations, the Airport of The iron 20, the one of Lanzarote 20 and that of La Gomera four.

Meanwhile, the airport Gran Canaria indicated 35 cancellations and 18 diversions.

Finally, Aena reported that during the day last Saturday, the first day under the effects of ‘Hermine’, in the Canary Islands there were 79 canceled flights and the diversion of another 30.
