The Cabildo de Tenerife has activated this Friday the PEIN, Insular Emergency Plan, preventively and after the notice of the declaration of maximum alert for rain, wind and storms with the risk of flooding, issued by the Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands, which will be activated from 00:00 this Saturday and will last, in all probability, until Monday 26.
“This preventive activation is carried out to ensure the safety of citizens, taking into account the level of prevention that will go hand in hand with the declaration of maximum alert, and so I have transferred it to the municipalities so that they activate in the same way its municipal emergency plans (PEMU)”, has indicated the president of the Cabildo, Pedro Martín, who adds that from the first hour of this Friday, “the services of the insular Security area, Natural Environment, with the availability of their Brifor teams , Environment agents, Cecopin, the Firefighters Consortium and Highway personnel are working to coordinate all available means on the island to act immediately if necessary.
The activation of the PEIN will entail protection measures such as the suspension of outdoor activities as well as the revocation of previously issued authorizations to carry them out, the closure of camping areas and recreational areas, guided tourist activities, sports activities abroad, as well as the programming of works abroad dependent on the areas of the Cabildo.
Likewise, among the recommendations, the population is told to avoid displacement.
These measures will be maintained while the Insular Plan is activated, collects a note from the Cabildo.
The Roads area of the Cabildo de Tenerife also reinforces the work crews distributed throughout the island, with more than 125 workers to act in the event of landslides, accidents and any incident, leaving the rest of the staff available to incorporate immediately in case of need.
As every day, the Highway Information Center (CIC) will work in parallel and uninterruptedly from where the main roads of the island are monitored through more than 200 cameras.

TRAMS
Metrotenerife has planned a special device with preventive actions along the tram lines.
Thus, cleaning work has been carried out on the main scuppers throughout the tram route and the drains in the tunnel areas.
In this way, the correct operation of the bilge pumps located in different sections of the layout has been verified and other auxiliary pumps have been prepared and distributed, as well as the tools for cleaning and intervention necessary for each case.
Protection elements have also been placed at the entrances to the electrical substations distributed along the line and in other facilities, to preserve the continuity of the service.
As for the staff, the work groups have been organized and the guards appointed so that throughout the weekend they can anticipate and act in the event of any incident.
BUSES
For its part, Titsa will operate its services with the usual weekend hours.
