SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 23 Sep. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife has opened the call for a new line of aid for SMEs and the self-employed on the island until next October 7 valued at seven million euros and which will fluctuate between 1,500 and 6,500 euros.

The data has been presented at a press conference by the president of the Cabildo, Pedro Martín, and the Minister of Employment, Socioeconomic Development and Foreign Action, Carmen Luz Baso, who have highlighted the “planned work” of the government group to protect and help to the productive fabric of the island and without duplicating the work carried out by the Canarian and central governments.

Martín has highlighted the “flexibility” of the criteria so that companies and freelancers can enjoy aid, in such a way that they can request it even if they are not up to date with Social Security contributions or have other tax obligations.

The objective, he pointed out, is to help with the payment of current expenses such as electricity supply or rent, but also with the promotion of jobs.

He has also indicated that they work side by side with other economic and social agents such as the Chamber of Commerce or the University of La Laguna in order to reach “more and better people”.

In this line, he has defended the “sensitivity” of the Cabildo with the economic development of the island by allocating 28 million so far in office and only in support of the economic fabric this year it will invest 8.9 million, 2,438% more than in 2018.

In fact, between 2020 and 2021, 15 million have been allocated in direct subsidies to the self-employed and micro-SMEs with a total of 10,616 beneficiaries.

The president has insisted on “simplifying the procedure as much as possible” given that in the first call up to 2,677 applicants did not meet the requirements and 2,100 did not comply with all the documentation.

When taking stock, he highlighted that Tenerife had 1,151 more companies in August than in August 2020, for a total of 27,040 – a figure above the time of crisis – which shows that “work is not done along the lines adequate”.

Apart from this line of aid, Carmen Luz Baso has also reported other subsidies that add up to a total of 1.9 million, such as the reconversion of the industrial and craft sectors –475,000 euros, expandable to 725,000–; improvement of commercial competitiveness –925,000 euros expandable to 1,225,000 euros and the new campaign of consumer vouchers with an investment of 600,000 euros.
