The major festivities in honor of the Santísimo Cristo de la Salud and Nuestra Señora del Rosario recover their usual program after two years of pandemic. They will take place from September 29 to October 4 and involve the departments of Festivals, Heritage, Tourism and Sports. On Thursday, the opening speech will be read (8:30 p.m.), by Dámaso Rodríguez Linares.
The mayor, José Julián Mena, emphasizes that these festivities “are a symbol for all the towns of Arona, a benchmark with which we bet on our traditions, heritage and culture, giving visibility to our historical memory and the roots of our people.”
The Councilor for Festivities, Ruth Lorenzo, underlines that “in recent years we have tried to recover the splendor that this commemoration has as Arona’s major festivities in its entirety, reinforcing the ties of coexistence that unite us”, to the town center and to all the locations.
On October 1, one of the most anticipated events will take place: Arona in Traditions, in which the historic center will return to the 40s and 50s through various activities that represent the history and customs of this period in the municipality. An extensive program that will fill the streets from 11:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. with exhibitions, a craft and gastronomy market, traditional games, tastings, theater performances representing scenes from the time, narrator circuits, open houses of historic houses and other activities, which will surround the center of Arona with customs of yesteryear.
Artists of the stature of Taburiente, Taller Canario, Los Sabandeños, Domingo El Colorado, Güicho and Brisas Arona will pass through the Arona stage in Traditions. A celebration for which it is recommended to go dressed in period clothing. Likewise, free buses will be available from different points of the municipality to facilitate the attendance of everyone here who wants to attend the event.
