SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 22 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has requested the partial dismissal of the investigation that affects the current spokesman for the Government of the Canary Islands, Julio Pérez, for his involvement in the ‘Geneto case’ when he was a councilor of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council.
The letter, to which Europa Press has had access, also requests the file of the case for the general director of Highways of the Government of the Canary Islands, José Luis Delgado, Sergio Alonso, brother of the former president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Carlos Alonso – who follows as an investigator– and Luis Martínez, director of the Tenerife Science and Technology Park (PCCT).
The Prosecutor’s Office maintains that the four investigated did not have “real knowledge” of the economic situation of the PCTT or of the details of the sale of the land of the sports city of CD Tenerife, located in the lagoon neighborhood of Geneto.
Therefore, the Prosecutor’s Office understands, they were unaware of the repercussions that the operation could have for the entity and the public coffers.
For now, the former presidents of the Cabildo, Ricardo Melchior and Carlos Alonso, plus Antonio García Marichal, María del Pino León, José Antonio Núñez and José Luis Luengo remain under investigation.
The ‘Geneto case’ investigates the alleged crimes of embezzlement of public funds and prevarication in the sale of two plots owned by CD Tenerife and the NAP company by the PCTT for almost 19 million euros, 524% more than its cadastral value.
