Penultimate pre-season friendly for Jaka Lakovic’s new Granca, that it continues to recover troops by the dropper and that it still does not have all the players available to be able to adjust the engine room of the new yellow project. The Claretian expedition travels to the neighboring island to compete in a summer classic at the Lenovo Tenerifee, in the first of the two scheduled preparation derbies -the second next week at the Arena-. Today’s one takes place in the Santiago Martín Pavilion (6:45 p.m.), in a clash that can be followed through CBC TV, the official YouTube channel of the Canary Islands.
Nico Brussino, recently arrived from the Copa América with the title of champion under his arm, and Ferran Bassas, once their physical problems have been overcome, are at the coach’s disposal to face the team from Tenerife, in which their coach Txus Vidorreta can count on Shermadini and Fran Guerra from Gran Canaria, in addition to Nico Richotti, who is helping the Aurinegro team during their preseason. Neither Marcelinho Huertas is here –he has already passed the medical examination and will join training next Monday– nor the internationals Jaime Fernández, and Sasu Salin.
In the Claretian team, the arrival of Vitor Benite in Gran Canaria is expected today, but the Brazilian does not travel to Tenerife, although in principle everything points to the fact that he could be part of the game in the second and last friendly of the Claretians in this preseason at the Arena next Thursday (6:30 p.m.).
In search of the second victory
Granca is presented in La Laguna with a negative balance in this different preseason, marked by the absence of the internationals. To the credit of the yellow box, a single victory –achieved in the semifinal of the Ciutat de Maó Tournament against Girona by Aíto García Reneses, Marc Gasol and Quino Colom (76-71)– for three defeats: against UCAM Murcia (86- 69), Valencia Basket (91-61) and BAXI Manresa (86-66).
For its part, its rival today, Lenovo Tenerife, opens in preseason against the Claretians in the Isola Cup that will take place this afternoon, so Vidorreta’s men could show a certain lack of shooting.
