A total of 38 proposals aspire to become the cartel of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival 2023after the deadline for receiving works at 11:59 p.m. yesterday, the 15th.

For the Councilor for Fiestas, Alfonso Cabello “it is a real satisfaction to see the extraordinary reception of a call that combines creativity and promotion of our most international festival.” In this sense, the mayor highlights that “for the carnival people, participating in the election of the announcing poster It is the real starting signal for an edition that will begin in just 125 days”.

For Cabello “the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is one of the few festivals in the world that can boast of having democratized the creativity of its most important business card”; “Because in the long history of posters, the authorship of both internationally recognized artists and emerging talents stands out,” he concludes.

The applicants for this edition have had forty-five days to carry out their works inspired by the chicharrera carnivals that will be held between January 20 and February 26, and on this occasion, they will be themed under the slogan “New York, the city that never sleeps”.

The works guarded in the facilities of the Autonomous Organization for Fiestas and Recreational Activities, OAFAR, will be subject to the criteria of a dual voting system. The first of them will be the selection of the ten best proposals by an artistic technical jury appointed by the Organization.

The people in charge of scoring the works that have the highest plastic or artistic quality, advertising or informative effectiveness about the carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, are: the art commissioner and director of the Westerdahl Museum, Celestino Celso Hernández; the presenter of Factoría de Carnaval, Domingo Hernández; the graphic designer and typography specialist, Lars Petter Amundsen; the graphic designer and National Design Year Award for the best poster 2019, Rebeca White; and the graphic designer from Museos de Tenerife, Miriam Cruz.

After this pre-selection, with a weight of 60% in the final assessment, an online popular voting process will be opened that will be communicated through social networks and corporate websites. This vote will have a value of 40% of the total. The final result will be obtained after the sum of both qualifications, awarding the OAFAR a prize of 2,500 euros to the authorship of the winning poster.
