The Canarian Third kicks off with the majority of teams from Las Palmas

Kick-off to a new edition of the Third RFEF, category that only maintains the name, since it is the fifth step of national soccer. The football of the municipalities returns, in which in the Canarian Group XII, the accent is practically from the province of Las Palmas with eleven teams from the eastern order, for five from Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

The road begins to gradually return to the Second RFEF the list of clubs that formed the division last season and that went to the hole. Messenger, San Fernando, Pulido Bakeries, Las Palmas Atlético and Tamaraceite. Five out of five took the elevator to the Third Division and they will meet again this year with the aim of accompanying Atlético Paso in the Second RFEF, given that it was the team that was promoted last season at the end of the championship as champion.

Together with this quintet, they make up the category: Arucas, Santa Úrsula, Estrella, Tenerife B, Ibarra, Marino, Gran Tarajal, Lanzarote, Unión Puerto, Union Sur Yaiza and Villa Santa Brígida. All of them in contention to finish the 30 games in first position and get a ticket to the Second RFEF.

Because the competition system for this course is still identical to that of last season. The champion is promoted directly, while the teams classified between second and fifth place will be resolved in crosses so that the champion of this phase plays a final tie to find out if it is a team that promotes or not –last year Tenerife B fell in front of Olot.

Main course

And today the competition begins with a luxury duel between two of those called to compete for the top positions in the table. UD Tamaraceite and Las Palmas Atlético will face each other at the Juan Guedes Stadium at 9:00 p.m. in a duel that can already be considered a classic of island football.

The team that Víctor Afonso now directs from the bench line repatriated David García to reinforce the defense, one of the capital team’s moles last season.

And at the same time, in Las Palmitas, the match between Estrella, which is making its debut in the category, and Villa de Santa Brígida, which hopes to lick the wounds of last season in which it was left on the verge of fighting for promotion, will be elucidated. of division, although it no longer has Deivid in its defensive line.
