The Economic and Social Forum of La Laguna (FES) will celebrate on Tuesday, September 20, the fourth Seminar of its study Sustainable Development Agenda and its Economic Repercussion, which on this occasion will be dedicated to the analysis of the ‘Perspectives of the Public Health System in Canary Islands’. Through these conferences, the FES tries to offer a detailed analysis of the current situation in the Archipelago, and more specifically in the municipality, to provide solutions and seek growth opportunities within sustainability parameters.

In this sense, the mayor of La Laguna and president of the Forum, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, assures that “these spaces for reflection and debate that the FES has been promoting throughout this year give us a very solid perspective of the challenges that we have to face both public administrations and civil society”. Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, who has analyzed the contents of this fourth day in a meeting with the Forum’s permanent commission, considers “public health is a permanently topical issue, which affects us all and is of enormous interest to citizens” .

In this new meeting, the Economic Forum of La Laguna will carry out a study of the current situation and future prospects of the public health system in the Archipelago, in a transversal and multidisciplinary way, reflecting both from a medical, economic or environmental point of view, as well as from the perspective of patients and their families.

Following the criteria of itinerancy sought by the Forum for this project, the Citizen Center Las Madres de Padre Anchieta, in San Benito, will be the place that hosts this activity, which again has free admission.

The day, which will begin at 4:30 p.m., will feature eight presentations by professionals of recognized prestige, who will individually offer an analysis from their different points of view, to end with a round table in which global reflections will be sought. .

Among the speakers are the director of the Health Area in Tenerife, Ignacio Carlos López Puech; the psychologist Miguel Díaz; the professor of Parasitology at the ULL, Basilio Valladares; the medical inspector of the National Health System, Alberto Talavera Déniz; the doctor and founder of the NGO Athletes without Borders José Faustino Afonso; the president of the Multiple Sclerosis Association of Tenerife, María de los Ángeles González; the section head of the Administrative Sports Service of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Ana Gaspar Vallejo; and the psychologist Miguel Tomé Pueyo.

Some of the topics that will be addressed in this conference are ‘Perspectives of the management of the Public Health System in the Canary Islands’, ‘Patients, Psychology and Health Well-being’, ‘Sustainable development of Public Health in the Canary Islands’ , ‘Physical Activity as a Tool for Social Inclusion’, ‘Sport as an instrument to improve Public Health’ or ‘Perspectives of Patients and Family Members on the Public Health System in the Canary Islands’.

In previous conferences, the FES has addressed the new energy alternatives in the Canary Islands, the analysis of the present and future of mobility, and the study of the evolution of citizen income.
