Since last week, bathing has been discouraged in several beaches of the southeast coast of Tenerife, the closure of some has even been decreed. The causes ranged from the so-called microalgae to the effects of runoff caused by the rains.

The sewage discharges in Tenerife and the million-dollar fines continue to be the pending issue of the Archipelago, where 72 percent of the emission points to the sea are illegal.

In this regard, various Tenerife activists have once again denounced the events through social networks and ask the authorities for a solution. “It is time to demand that the municipalities assume their responsibility and stop putting the health of people and marine ecosystems at risk,” declares the documentary filmmaker from Tenerife Philip Ravinalong with a video on Instagram that already exceeds 35,000 views.

The marine biologist, Pablo Martín, for his part, affirms without hesitation that “the beach where you bathe or fish is contaminated”. He acknowledges that “those of us who dive see it every day”. His recording, with images similar to Ravina’s, exceeds 116,000 visits on the same social network.
