La Laguna will celebrate on Saturday the 17th of this month the most participatory Heritage Night, an event common to the 15 World Heritage cities that in Aguere will have an exceptional character, with the direct involvement of 70 associations, companies and institutions public and private.
“We have put a lot of effort into having a program made in a community and transversal way, with the active participation of the groups and what they have wanted to offer to the city,” said the mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, during the presentation of the large cultural and heritage offer, which brings together a hundred acts in thirty public and private spaces.
“We want a city and a living heritage and we all have to do that together,” said the councilor during the presentation, in which the Councilor for Culture, Yaiza López Landi, also appeared; the mayor of Historical Heritage, Elvira Jorge, and the Councilor for Fiestas, Badel Albelo. The event also featured a broad representation of the participating entities and a musical performance by Taller Canario, one of the groups invited to this event.
Exhibitions, concerts, theater, crafts, guided tours, audiovisuals, children’s activities, workshops, archaeology, or literature, among other activities, make up a program “that brings together quality, variety and, in addition to its participatory nature, is committed to inclusion and full accessibility”, explained Yaiza López Landi, who considered that the Heritage Night contributes “to highlighting the great wealth of heritage and culture that we have. And we have worked on this year’s programming along these lines”, emphasizing “high social participation and hand-in-hand work to celebrate heritage”.
In addition to the cultural events, the program of activities also includes the exceptional opening of some of the most representative heritage spaces in the city, from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. In this regard, the councilor Elvira Jorge indicated that, “along with that linked movable heritage that we always open exceptionally”, “other very important heritages must be taken into account, such as intangible, archaeological, documentary and, above all, , the emotional and human heritage”.
For his part, Badel Albelo announced the presence, within the poster of the Fiestas del Cristo, of “an international artist and one of the most acclaimed on the national scene, such as Pastora Soler, who will be the icing on the cake for this Heritage Night” .
four sections
The Heritage Night will be structured, for the first time, in four sections. Along with the usual Heritage Scene (dedicated to dance and which this year has Italy as the guest country, with a performance by the dancer Alessandro Sciarroni), Heritage Open (with the opening of heritage spaces) and Heritage Live (which includes the offer in the historic center), La Laguna exceptionally incorporates the Vive la Calle section, which brings together street events and public squares.
The program will start symbolically at 10:00 am on the 17th in the chapel of the San Juan cemetery, with an offering-concert called Wind and Memory, by Pablo Díaz and Danny Glez. “It seems to us the best possible way to start the Heritage Night, which is to honor the memory of our ancestors, who are also part of our heritage,” said Yaiza López Landi.
From that moment on, there will be activities for all ages that seek to bring the knowledge of trades, traditions and heritage spaces of the city. All this with a marked playful and festive character. The program can be consulted in the Culture section of the municipal website: www.lalaguna.es.
