Come to Santa Cruz It returns this weekend, after the break due to the pandemic, with more than 50 commercial revitalization activities that will take place in almost a dozen locations in the center. This was announced yesterday by the mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, accompanied by the CEO of the Development Society, Alfonso Cabello, and the vice president of the Central Zone, Gerardo Acosta, in an act in which representatives of collaborating entities and sponsors of the event.

Bermúdez valued that Come to Santa Cruz is an activity “of proven success in our city and that helps us to give it a commercial boost”. The mayor recalled the commitment to “promote the recovery of the city after the health crisis”, with activities like this one that are part of the Santa Cruz Puro Corazón initiative, presented a few months ago.

For his part, Alfonso Cabello specified that Come to Santa Cruz returns with “some changes”. Thus, the initiative, which was born to boost the commercial opening every first Sunday of the month, is extended in this edition to Saturday as well, taking into account the demands of the sector, which asks to support Saturday afternoons, and the arrival of cruise passengers to the center. In this sense, Come to Santa Cruz will take place this Saturday, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and this Sunday, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Meanwhile, Gerardo Acosta valued that “from the Central Zone we are very happy to reactivate the Come to Santa Cruz again” and that there is one more day, coinciding, in addition, with the start-up of the Consumer Bonds.

The specific program can be consulted on the website www.santacruzescomercio.com/vensantacruz. For example, this Saturday there will be, on La Asunción avenue in the section between General Serrano street and La Paz square, children’s workshops on urban gardens, sewing, painting and children’s creativity, as well as parades, batucadas and a commercial exhibition; while on the Rambla de Santa Cruz, in the section between Plaza La Paz and Plaza de Toros, storytelling dramatized in English will be held.

Likewise, in the Parque Bulevar there will be four scientific, technological and environmental workshops, and in the Plaza de La Candelaria there will be theatrical and musical performances, among other activities in more locations. Meanwhile, on Sunday there will be face-painting workshops and juice tastings in Plaza del Chicharro; children’s entertainment in the Plaza del Príncipe, and children’s workshops and bouncy castles in the Alameda del Duque de Santa Elena.

The mayor recalled that more activities will come in the coming months, such as the Full Moon celebration in October, Black Week in November or the Christmas and Kings campaign. “These types of actions contribute to economic recovery”, he valued and, as an example, highlighted that during last August, hiring grew by 27% compared to the same month of 2021, while unemployment has decreased by 12%, which which means that “more than 3,000 people have returned to work in the last 12 months”.
