The Island Center for Aquatic Activities in Puerto de la Cruz will be ready in mid-2023

The president of Council of TenerifePedro Martín, assures this Monday that the new Island Center for Aquatic Activities, located in Puerto de la Cruz, will be ready in mid-2023“in response to a long demand from both the City Council and the citizens”.

This was announced during the visit made to the works of the center, located in the old municipal swimming pool, accompanied by the mayor of Cross portMarco González, and the insular director of Sports, Ángel Pérez.

Peter Martin highlighted the importance of this project, of which slightly more than a third of the works (35%) have already been carried out and whose budget has been increased from 11.8 million to 14 million euros to solve the technical difficulties that have arisen since its inception and that have forced the project to be modified.

“We are in an important phase in which, after solving some problems, a definitive boost is being given to the execution of this center, which will have state-of-the-art technology for both water treatment and air conditioning of the rooms. swimming pool,” said the president.

For his part, the mayor of Puerto de la Cruz, Marco González, wanted to thank the insular institution for its commitment to a key investment to continue reinforcing the balance of the island with a modern and cutting-edge infrastructure“at the height of the historical demand of the citizens and of the Porto clubs that hope to return home very soon”.

In addition, he valued the work that both administrations suppose to overcome the different procedures and technical difficulties that a work of this magnitude entails.

As recalled by the insular director of Sports, in 2015 this municipal swimming pool was closed, leaving the people of Porto without this important municipal public service, and it was not until the current insular mandate when the project for these facilities was carried out, whose start-up It will give a significant boost to the sport.

The complex is a multipurpose, multifunctional center that is certified by the International Swimming Federation (FINA) and in which two pools of 50×25 meters and two meters deep are planned, intended both for high competition and for daily use by citizensin addition to a glass for therapeutic use.
