The Municipality of Tegueste will celebrate its festivities in honor of the Virgen de los Remedios from September 1 to 18 with a program of religious and festive events “for all audiences, in which the Livery stands out, an act loaded with historical and cultural symbolism, which dates back to the 17th century, and which is considered a Site of Cultural Interest”, informs the Consistory in a note.

One more year, the popular acts will begin with the raising of the flag, which will open a program of activities that includes the traditional election of the queen and the parade of floats. In addition, the symbolic Livery will take place in San Marcos square next September 9, at 9:30 p.m..

To this is added the Teguaco Festival, a cultural event already consolidated in the festivities, which will celebrate its VIII edition on Sunday 11, and the performances of the musical group San Marcos Evangelista, which will extend throughout the programming. The meeting of habaneras, also usual, will take place on the 15th at the Teatro Príncipe. The blessing of the vineyards in the San Ignacio area and the harvest festival will close on the 18th a historic celebration for Tegueste.

The mayor, Ana Rosa Mena, expresses her satisfaction with the maintenance of the popular festivals, and highlights that “they are an active way of preserving our traditions, in addition to having an important role in the community because they encourage the encounter between neighbors and help us to maintain our identity as a people.

For her part, the Councilor for Fiestas, Eladia López, expresses her satisfaction at participating in the organization of the Livery and thanks the work carried out by all the groups involved «so that this very special representation goes ahead and becomes the main attraction of the Festivities of Our Lady of Los Remedios». Likewise, the recovery of the float parade stands out, which will be held for the first time after the pandemic, according to the press release.
